The Shepherd King Duet

🔗Author: Rachel Gillig

Highlights

What called most my attention in this series was how secondary characters became almost the main ones, with a crucial participation in the events that wove this tale. I didn’t love it, but didn’t hate it either. It was an interesting and risky move from the author.

What to Expect

  • Main focus in fantasy
  • Greediness for power and control
  • Violence, cruelty, and death
  • Unique system of magic centered in cards
  • Secrets, treason, sacrifices and betrayals
  • Multiple POVs
  • More than one romantic relationship
  • Enemies to lovers
  • Little romance per se
  • Teamwork as key for success
  • Intricate plot

What I Missed

  • I honestly thought it would hooked me more. Maybe I’m struggling with the summer heat or my romantic side has become predominant because there was something missing for me here. I even found the second book a bit slow, like it took some time for significant things to unfold.
🤔
I guess I could revisit this series later and see if my perception changes…
