Spark the Flames

The Ivy Asher I loved from The Bone Witch is back. No more harem, no seven mates, but an intriguing story of dragons instead.

Spark the Flames (Secret of the Syphon #1)

šŸ”—Author: Ivy Asher

Highlights

I truly highlight Asherā€™s storytelling in this book. Iā€™m thrilled she went to write a story in the lines of her The Osseous Chronicles, but with more spice. You have an intriguing plot, something dark building in the background and a burning coupleā€”just a couple, no more lovers involved!

ā
I also want to mention two ideas Ivy introduced here that I found quite unique: the types of bonds she envisioned between characters and how she used a specific type of magic/power for pleasure. Kudos!

What to Expect

  • Enemies to lovers
  • Sexual and possessive tension
  • Spice
  • Torture
  • Secrets, plots and curses
  • Tough FMC
  • Dragons as main characters
šŸ‰
Itā€™s curious her treatment of dragons isnā€™t exactly like theyā€™re shifters aloneā€”meaning a fae who can shift into an animalā€”but more like they have a more humanoid form (drake). Even their armors when in drake form are part of their skin.

What I Missed

  • Iā€™m just going to say that there were a lot of names and terms, and it was a bit confusing to keep up sometimes.
