More than revisiting the all-time favorites, I wanted new blood, as in new romantic stories to accompany you during the month of love.

What to Expect
It was a cute try at a darker BDSM romance. In honesty, it was very vanilla, but it was still entertaining, passionate and complex. Lukas and Scarlett have a chance to explore their sexual preferences, while navigating the pressure and intensity of competitive sports and STEM studies. I also loved, even if they were barely mentioned, seeing The Love Hypothesis characters in here. It was an unexpected surprise.

Abby Jimenez has this capacity of bringing to attention real struggles, diseases and situations—and this novel isn’t the exception—with humor and spark. There’s always a funny pet involved that lightens the mood in a refreshing way. This time, Emma and Justin decide to fake date to try to break their curse: their dates always end up meeting the one after they break up. However, a fling is never a fling. And, there are family complications and trauma that will add to their journey. It’s heartwarming, real and healing.

What to Expect
It’s like reading The Unhoneymooners—their best novel for me—but with very toxic and complicated family dynamics. It’s attention catching. There’s a spiced up situation with nails and bites that surprised me coming from Christina Lauren—I’m not saying they’ve never delivered spice, but this had some darker touches I enjoyed. It’s a great read.

What to Expect
I’m happy I got to see that something that captivated me when I met Emma Lord through You Have a Match. The latter is still the best, but you’ll get that young adult cute vibe she does well. It was satisfying to read, especially after my last Lord’s book Begin Again didn’t do it for me. This novel is a college romance with enmity, competitive strikes, managerial corruption and students rising their voices for their rights.

I really liked this book. Yarros does romance well. It’s heartwarming, cozy, and always with that realistic touch characteristic of her. We have a longtime crush, heartbreak, forced distance, some hate and a mother capable of twisting her daughters’ lives for her ambitions. We meet a ballerina and a rescue swimmer, their professions risks and expectations, and a love that’s had to fight many waves.
