Reign of Cinders and Glass (Fated Fairytales #1)

I received an advanced copy of this book.

Highlights

What I enjoyed the most was the animal intervention—as characters. It was also interesting how some Cinderella references were changed, mixed with other stories and reversed in some cases… and of course, let’s not forget the FMC determination.

What to Expect

  • Cinderella and other fairytale references
  • Enemies to lovers
  • Slow burn romance
  • Humans vs vampires vs magic
  • Deceitful power hierarchies
  • Oppressed vs oppressor
  • Inequity
  • Magical animals as fun secondary characters
  • Standalone
  • Dual POV

What I Missed

  • The references in general were intertwined with the story giving it a fun touch, except for the use of Cinderella as a nickname. It sounded cheesy at times and I didn’t feel it suited the character’s personality, although it was clever why the term of endearment came to be.
  • I would have liked an epilogue or bonus chapter to savour the romance and what they’d later face, as it really evolved right at the end of the book.
💡
Though it’s a standalone, it’s listed as part of a series. And I do believe this story could develop sequels narrating the stories of this book protagonists’ siblings, Valen and Belle.
