Highlights
⚠️
Note that many dislike this series for its similarities to Red Rising. As I haven’t read the latter, it didn’t compromise my experience. Therefore, be aware if you’re familiar with Pierce Brown’s work, you might not enjoy this book the same way.
I liked some of the twists by the end of the book. As I said earlier, not being able to compare this work with any other allowed me to enjoy it and be pleasantly surprised by the outcome.
What to Expect
- Enemies to lovers
- Love triangle
- Few romantic scenes
- Class discrimination
- Oppressed vs oppressor
- Rebellion of the “weak”
- Lies, conspiracies, betrayals, secrets
- Violence, torture and death
- Twists
- YA
- Ends with cliffhanger
What I Missed
- The romantic chemistry/tension among the characters wasn’t very strong. So, it’s still early for me to root for any particular couple.
